New Honda Accord 2023: Bigger Size, Less Power

Honda held a presentation of the new Accord sedan, the 11th generation. Japanese engineers have deeply reworked the Japanese model. The 2023 Honda Accord has taken on a sportier, larger and more fuel-efficient look after a generational change.

The dimensions of the Japanese sedan are 4971x1862x1450 mm, and the wheelbase reaches 2830 mm. In comparison with the previous sedan, the length of the novelty has increased by 69 mm. It is noteworthy that the size of the wheelbase remained the same. The reason is partly due to the fact that the newest Honda Accord is based on the same platform, which has also been improved. For the novelty, spacers and additional welding points were prepared, which increased the strength of the sedan and increased body rigidity. It is stated that the sedan has become more manageable, and it has improved ride.

By default, the Japanese model is equipped with a 1.5-liter 192-horsepower turbo engine that develops up to 260 N * m. Along with this motor is a variator. Optionally, the newest version of Honda Accord in 2023 comes with a hybrid with a 2-liter unit at the base, which is complemented by two electric motors. The total output of such a combination reaches 204 hp, the traction moment is 335 N*m.

The Accord is offered with a head-up display, ventilated first-row seats, a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen (7-inch by default), a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, inductive charging, premium 12-speaker acoustics, and other options.

In addition, Honda has improved the camera (viewing angle increased to 90 degrees), adaptive cruise control and sensors that are part of the blind spot monitoring system.By the way, one of two gasoline engines can be installed under this elongated hood. Or a 1.5-liter 192-horsepower turbocharger with VTEC technology and paired with a CVT transmission. Or a 2-liter hybrid with 204 horsepower. Alas, the more powerful 252 hp version is no longer offered. So it turns out: the new Honda Accord sedan added in size, but lost the most powerful version.

But where else has it changed other than in size? Salon guaranteed. The front panel received a horizontal line connecting the ventilation deflectors. A 7-inch or even 12.3-inch display can be mounted in the center, depending on the version. The instrument cluster is built on top of a 10.2-inch monitor. And for the driver and front passenger, there are particularly comfortable seats with body stabilization technology.

The new 11th generation Honda Accord will continue to be built at the Ohio plant.

The exact date of the start of sales of the new Accord has not been announced.

For 47 years of production, the Japanese Honda Accord sedan has managed to grow from compact to mid-size, repeatedly receive the title of “car of the year” and, long before many direct competitors, switch to hybrid technology.

And the model continues to evolve: patent images of the 11th generation Honda Accord turned out to be widely available, and a test sample of a Japanese business sedan was seen at the test site, which gave some idea of the upcoming changes in its exterior.

The current version of the Honda Accord has been in production since 2017, the 10th generation was built on the company’s modern platform, on which the Civic and CR-V were already based.Body length – 4879 mm, which allows you to offer a spacious interior, and in the US, where the sedan has remained popular over the past decades, it is loved for its excellent handling and impeccable “Japanese” build quality. The manufacturer continues to prepare a new version of the model, but the pace shows that we can talk about the 2023 Accord.

It is noticeable that the new corporate style of Honda is characterized by less aggressive design, which can be seen from the interior, which is almost the same for all current models of the Japanese brand. Apparently, the new Honda Accord 2023 will also receive the architecture that has already become commonplace: a dashboard in a classic recess, a free-standing central display, an add-on on the tunnel casing and many buttons throughout the cabin.

A horizontal strip with a honeycomb structure will pass through the entire front console, where the air ducts will be successfully disguised. It is possible that the Accord will have its own decor pattern, but in terms of the on-board system, it will be a copy of the updated CR-V, which will enter the market a little earlier than the sedan.

The new 2023 Honda Accord sedan is expected to get a new hybrid powertrain, although it will also debut a little earlier on the CR-V Hybrid. But the old units should remain in service: 1.5 and 2.0-liter gasoline in-line four-cylinder turbo engines.
